Gardening is something that anybody can do. Even those who are sure that they have no gardening talent can grow and raise plants. Over time every person can learn how to raise a bunch of different types of plants: herbs, spices, veggies, fruits, flowers and even trees! The reason most people fail at gardening is because they think that gardening is easy. While it can become easy over time, when you are first starting out there is a lot to learn. There is more to simply tossing some seeds in some dirt and pouring water over them every once in a while! Here are a few tricks to that you can use to improve the quality of your first garden.

If you want to grow a variety of plants put a schedule together and tmake sure you follow it. Write out the details of every plant’s watering schedule. Map out a schedule for adding nutrients to the soils of your different plants. Put everything into your planner or on your calendar and then check that calendar every day to find out what you need to do. You could even plan your weeding times! The scheduling and mapping of each thing will help you make sure that you don’t miss any steps. If you are a new gardening enthusiast, planning everything out on a schedule is a fantastic method of staying organized.

The two most annoying garden pests you will deal with will be slugs and snails. Get over your squeamishness now. There are a couple of ways you can cut down on the number of these pests in your garden but the truth is that they are really good at hiding in your plants. Get used to the idea of manual removal.

If you are desperate you might try a “natural” remedy like placing jars of beer around your garden or running some copper wire along the length of your plot. Some gardeners try special foods and traps that are meant specifically for these creatures but most of these gardeners eventually realize that they will just have to learn to deal with the pests up close and personally.

Would it surprise you to learn that you do not have to buy seeds if you want to plant a garden? This is especially true if you want to grow fruits or vegetables. In the case of planting food (vegetables or fruits) usually all you need are a few pieces of whatever it is that you want to grow. Along with being their own seeds, vegetables and fruits often contain seeds that, when planted, will grow more of that fruit or vegetable. This is a fantastic way to begin a garden that is full of your favorite vegetables and fruits without having to purchase a whole bunch of seeds from a store.

A lot of people think that gardening is an intricate process. Many new gardeners feel intimidated by the process of gardening because they’ve never learned what it takes to grow plants. Thankfully, all you need is the right guidance and support and before you know it, gardening won’t seem nearly as complex!
